Self-promotion, part deux
Last week, Daily Court Review, Houston's oldest legal daily newspaper, had an article discussing electronic discovery. [You'll have to register to see it.]
Of course, I mention this because I was quoted several times in the piece on these issues, including these nuggets:
Many companies have a backup system that is designed to hold a copy of all corporate information. Such systems are usually saved on magnetic tape. Chaumette said the process of going through the tape is cumbersome. “That can be very time consuming and very expensive,” he said.
The potential for loss is huge according to Chaumette, but a company can avoid the fate of Morgan Stanley if it decides to manage its electronic documents better.
Unfortunately, I remain uncertain whether people have gotten the message.
